Koi America is an annual koi and goldfish show held by the Mid Atlantic Koi Club. The shows were held at the CARROLL COUNTY AGRICULTURE CENTER in the DANELE SHIPLEY MEMORIAL ARENA. I spent several hours at the koi and goldfish show, on Saturday afternoon, video taping and photographing some of these gorgeous fish.
The Mid-Atlantic Koi Club (MAKC) runs this wonderful, yearly event. The show seems to be getting bigger and better every year. There were so many beautiful koi fish in the show. And the goldfish show had a record number of entries this year. The event had many free lectures. Some of the lectures covered topics such as breeding koi fish, building and maintaining a koi pond, diagnosing and treating koi disease and learning about various pond plants.
The event had plenty of vendors, like Hikari USA. You could get lots of information on Koi fish and related products like water filters, pumps, fish medications, koi nets, pond aeration, bio-media, skimmers, pond liners, pond plants and koi food. You could purchase all the supplies necessary for maintaining a koi pond. Plus there were plenty of gorgeous koi and goldfish to view and purchase. The atmosphere was great with lots of people attending the event. This was a perfect event for the entire family. The koi and goldfish hobbyists are really nice, friendly people. They'd answer all your questions as you gazed at the beautiful show fish. I visited the event several years ago and had a great time. This year's show was even better! If you are interested in koi, goldfish, plants, ponds or nature, then you'll certainly want to plan to visit the MAKC's next koi and goldfish show. Here's 2 videos I took of some of the koi at the 2009 and 2011 koi shows. Enjoy!
