Free Swimming Discus Fish Fry

This video shows some 1, 2 and 5 day old, free swimming discus fry. Notice how small the fry appear. They are very tiny(smaller than a flea), but grow very quickly. They exclusively eat off of their parent's sides for the first few days. Usually, by day 3 or 4 you can start feeding them live baby brine shrimp. During this time, the small discus fry always stay close to their parents in the aquarium. We usually remove the fry from their parents after they've been free swimming in the aquarium for 14 days. This video was taken on March 2nd, 2010 at our discus fish hatchery. Watch the video in HD full screen to get a closer look at the discus fry.
